Happy Friday!!! In Kenya we call it Furahi day which means ‘be happy’ day! So let’s make merry as the weekend is gon be lit. For me movies, tea and long sleeping hours is my kinda party.
We have been on beast mode this week and yes I did go hard on many things I was slacking off on in my life. How about you? What things did you get to get done? Tell me about it. Today’s post will be super short because Furahi day!!! And I believe this point goes well with few words and your own thoughts on it!
A while back someone brought this quote to my attention ‘Whenever you want to speak, ask yourself, is it kind, is it necessary’ Some things we do, we do not really think them through and that’s okay yes but not at the expense of our fellow humans. Recently as I was listening to Lewis Howes’ podcast, the guest talked of and experience he had. He was a lower level employee and he got to go to a meeting with his superior. Now they were discussing an issue and he decided to give his two cents about it, which we are all entitled to. So after the meeting, his Boss called him aside and asked him, “Whatever you said during the meeting, did you want to contribute to the discussion or did you just want to speak”
We sometimes want to be heard so badly, we want our ideas taken up, we just want to be seen. This leads us to doing things to please people. Even if it means stepping on somebody else’s toes to get the applause and laughter. It is like performing for an audience all through life. And that’s no way to live.
I like that quote because it first asks, is it kind. So whenever we want to respond or react, let’s take a step back and confirm that it is kind and it is necessary.
Okay, I’m done now….you can subscribe for the first ever newsletter yeeey and of course continue this discussion with your thoughts in the comments section or on my social media links.
