Hello good people!!!! Let me tell you a funny story. When I was younger, we were taught that boiling water or treating it disinfects it. Technically in my mind at the time, doing that kills the germs. So whenever I saw my Mum or any other adult boiling water, I would just sit there and watch. The water would be silent for some time and then bubbles will start to appear. In my mind it made sense for bubbles to appear. Because that meant that the germs were dying. So as steam lifted up I knew that the germs were vanishing like that. Hahahaha…..thinking about it now I cannot tell you how many times my Mum had told me, “Don’t put your face too close to the sufuria or you’ll get burned.”
I am older now and I know where the bubbles come from. And the fact that as a kid I was so keen to catch a glimpse of a dying germ has become a funny story. You see, I did not know where the bubbles came from but now I do know. I have noticed that most of us in this age and time are not willing to say “I don’t know” or even say something that could be incorrect. It is like we want to get it right the first time and if not we will wait for someone else who knows to tell us. That’s alright but the thing we forget is that the next time we actually know the answer, we will not say it. Because that is not something that we have any practice on doing.
I’m not saying to get onto the streets and say whatever we want because we may not know everything. My point is that we do not have to be so hard on ourselves when we get it wrong. It’s okay to not know, it’s okay to not get it right the first time or even the second.
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Let’s keep ourselves fluid to receive, learn and give back as much as we can. Life is beautiful and wonderful so let’s enjoy it!!
